About Vixo

Vixo is a free online tool that adds animated captions to videos. We built it because adding good subtitles to a short video used to mean installing a big editing app, creating an account, or paying a monthly subscription for something that should take a minute.

What we believe

• Captions should be easy. Upload a video, check the words, pick a style, download. No account, no email, no installation.
• Your videos are yours. Your video is processed entirely on your own device. It is never uploaded to us, so we can't see, keep or share it.
• Captions make video better for everyone. They help people watching on mute, viewers who are deaf or hard of hearing, and people watching in a second language.

How it works

When you choose a video, a speech recognition model running inside your browser transcribes the audio and records the timing of every word. You see a live preview where you can correct the text and design the look of your captions. When you export, your browser draws the captions onto each frame and creates a standard MP4 file that works on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and everywhere else. The first time, the browser downloads the speech model once and keeps it for next time.

How we keep it free

Vixo is supported by advertising and by an optional paid plan for people who need longer videos or more videos per day. The free plan includes 3 videos per day, up to one minute each, with every style and no watermark.
